Welcome to Peak Dental, your local Havelock North dental practice. We provide dental care for your whole family.
Peak Dental has been open for over 20 years and is locally owned by our Lead Dentist, Dr Donna Holder.
Our practice is situated on Te Mata Road in a lovely Art Deco building, with spacious parking out front. We provide a welcoming atmosphere with professional and friendly staff.

Donna Holder

Hi my name is Donna and I’m the proud owner of Peak Dental in Havelock North.
I enjoy all aspects of Dentistry, from restorations and crowns to dental implants. I love improving smiles and building confidence in people.
I am a firm believer in regular maintenance and care to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
I chose Dentistry as a career because I love helping people and as a Dentist we get to do this every day - whether it be getting them out of pain or restoring a beautiful smile.
My background
I’m originally from Oamaru and graduated from Otago University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. After graduating I worked at Christchurch hospital as a Dental House Surgeon before moving into private practice.
I moved to Havelock North with my family in 2011 after the Christchurch earthquakes. I worked locally in private dental practices until purchasing Peak Dental in 2021
In my spare time
Outside of work I am married to Richard and we have three children and an energetic Labrador called Maz.
You will see me out and about running and walking or spending time with my family at the beach.
Jo Jackson

Hi, I’m Jo and I’ve been a dentist at Peak Dental in Havelock North since 2021.
I feel very lucky that I can build long term relationships with my patients and care for them over time, helping them to achieve healthy teeth and smiles.
My background
I was inspired to study Dentistry as it offers the ideal combination of art, science and caring for people. I graduated from Otago University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, then spent 15 years working in a general dental practice in South West London before settling in Hawke’s Bay in 2018.
In my spare time
Outside of work, my husband Malcolm and I have two children and a Great Dane. I like to spend my spare time doing yoga, hill walking (with a friend or a good podcast) and spending time with my family.
Pip Brickell

My name is Pip and I’m a Dentist at Peak Dental in Havelock North.
It’s hard for me to pick a favourite part of my role as it is incredibly varied and constantly changing. I enjoy the variety of general practice, restorations, crowns, root canals, periodontal treatment as well as the constantly improving technology, techniques, and materials we get to use and apply in Dentistry.
I find the opportunity to improve people’s health and oral health incredibly rewarding. There’s always lots of opportunity to empower our patients with the positive changes they can make and I really enjoy the wide range of people I get to meet.
I was very frightened of the Dentist growing up and part of my reason for becoming a Dentist was that I wanted to change that experience for people. As a patient you can feel very vulnerable and I get a lot of satisfaction from easing patients’ anxieties with empathy and care.
My background
I qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago University. I chose Dentistry because I love the combination of theory and practical skills needed in Dentistry. I feel very lucky to be able to apply my knowledge, hand skills and even a touch of creativity to help people in a very tangible way.
Gary Mitchelmore
Dentist
Gary joins us as an experienced dentist, having qualified at the University of Otago in 1984. After a short stint as a locum in an Oamaru practice Gary joined the Army full time as a Dental Officer and served both in New Zealand and overseas for ten years. During this time he also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Oral Surgery, studying again at Otago University. As family arrived Gary left the military and had his own practice in Dannevirke for some 23 years before moving to Hawkes Bay. Gary has a special interest in Oral Surgery and IntraVenous Sedation. His hobbies include being in the local Brass Band, golf and cycling the Hawkes Bay trails.
