Crowns
If you have a heavily-filled tooth that keeps breaking, or a repair that needs to cover the majority of the surface of your tooth; we may recommend a crown.
What is a dental crown?
A dental crown mimics the look and function of a tooth. It slips over the base of your tooth like a strong protective jacket made of either porcelain, ceramic or gold and is cemented in place. A crown is a much stronger fix than a filling.
How do you make a dental crown?
The tooth is shaped down and then the crown is measured to exactly fit over the base of your tooth. This is done by the Dentist taking an intra-oral scan with a specially designed camera. The scan is sent digitally to our trusted Dental Technicians in New Zealand. They produce a 3D printed model of your tooth and design the crown from there.
Do I need a dental crown?
We may recommend fitting a crown if your existing fillings keep breaking or your tooth is already broken and needs repair. A crown is much stronger than a filling and makes it possible to repair a larger area of a tooth without weakening it.
