Is a dental implant right for me?

An implant isn’t the right solution for everyone. If you think you might benefit from a dental implant you should start by booking an appointment with one of our Dentists. They can assess your oral health and make sure you meet the criteria for a dental implant.

It’s important that your teeth have finished growing before an implant is recommended, so we don’t offer them if you are under 20 years old. It’s also essential that your teeth are in good condition and you don’t have gum disease.

Regular dental check ups are the best way to be sure that if you do need an implant, your existing teeth and your gums are ready for what comes next.

How are dental implants placed?

If your Dentist confirms that a dental implant is right for you, we start by sending you to a Specialist who invites you in for a consultation which includes a 3D scan of your mouth and jaw.

Once they’re happy to proceed, they will book an appointment to place a metal fixture (screw) into your jaw bone and cover it with a healing cap. This then sits for 2 to 3 months to integrate into the jaw, after which it’s tested by the Specialist and then you are referred back to our Dentists for the crown placement on top of the implant screw.

Once you’re referred back to Peak Dental, we remove the healing cap and perform our own scans of the top of the implant. All the details go to our lab technician who then makes a porcelain crown to place onto your dental implant.

How long does it take to get a dental implant?

The whole process of getting a dental implant takes approximately 6 months. This ensures that your jaw has plenty of time to adapt to the implant.

Can any tooth be replaced with a dental implant?

A dental implant can be used to replace any tooth in your mouth, provided you meet the criteria for having an implant.

Dental implants are an effective solution for missing front teeth and if you don’t like the idea of partial dentures. Dental implants don’t have to rely on surrounding teeth for support.

Does ACC cover Implants?

Some Dental Implants can be partially funded by ACC. If the original injury was an accident we can apply for funding to help with the cost.
