What is a porcelain veneer?

A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded to the front of your tooth.

It is one of the best options to improve the appearance of your smile, boost confidence, and provide a comfortable and efficient bite.

They are suitable for teeth that are:

  • Permanently stained or discoloured
  • Widely spaced with gaps
  • Chipped or worn down
  • Crooked, uneven or poorly positioned.

Veneers offer many benefits including being stain-resistant, enhancing the look of your teeth and providing a natural tooth appearance.

Our porcelain veneers process

If you’e interested in changing your smile, we firstly invite you in for a consultation. Here we discuss all options available and check that this is the right treatment for you. We take impressions or scans of your teeth and create study models.

Our Laboratory Technician prints a 3-d model of your teeth and digitally enhances it. This will show you what your smile will look like with the veneers in place.

Once the model is ready we get you to return to check the model and if you are happy with treatment, we book a time to proceed with your permanent veneer placement.

How are porcelain veneers placed?

Teeth are prepared for veneers by lightly buffing to allow space for the bonded veneer. Scans are then taken using our intra-oral scanner and sent to the Laboratory where your veneers will be made out of pressed porcelain ceramic. Once the veneer is ready, your Dentist will place it on your prepared tooth and cement it in place.

The pressed porcelain ceramic has the strength and resilience comparable to a natural tooth and typically lasts 10 to 15 years.
